Recently, the distributed photovoltaic (PV) power generation project of Qianhe condiment was connected to the grid in Meishan City, Sichuan Province, providing clean, stable and green power guarantee for condiment brewing. Against the backdrop of global efforts to achieve the “dual carbon” goals (carbon peaking and carbon neutrality) and the rising focus on green manufacturing, traditional industries are accelerating their shift from fossil energy dependence to renewable energy adoption. Qianhe , with more than 30 years of experience in the condiment sector, has always adhered to the concept of “craftsmanship brewing Chinese flavor” and integrated green development into all aspects of its operations. The newly connected distributed PV project is a key practice of this concept, marking a milestone in the company’s journey towards green and low-carbon brewing.

According to official data, the total investment of Qianhe’s distributed PV project exceeds 50 million yuan. Adopting a “BIPV+BAPV” hybrid PV solution, the project has a total installed capacity of approximately 7.2 megawatts (MW), covering an area of about 45,000 square meters on the roofs of three core workshops: koji-making, refining and glass bottle storage. This design maximizes the use of industrial space without occupying additional land resources, forming a unique “roof carbon reduction” path suitable for the condiment industry.

To meet the strict production and hygiene standards of food enterprises, the project partner Longi Century adopted slope-parallel installation for color steel plate roofs and adjustable brackets for concrete roofs. This not only ensures the efficiency and stability of the PV system but also does not affect the daily production and hygiene control of the factory, perfectly matching the core needs of the food brewing industry for “stable power supply and strict hygiene requirements.”

The project’s green energy supply capacity and environmental benefits are particularly prominent. Equipped with high-performance PV modules, efficient inverters and transformers, the system has a DC installed capacity of 7.2 MW and an AC installed capacity of 5.95 MW, connected to the power grid at a voltage level of 10 kV. Operating in a “self-consumption first, surplus power fed into the grid” mode, it can generate an average of 5.4186 million kWh of electricity per year, meeting about 30% of the company’s production power demand.

In terms of environmental protection, the project can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 111,100 tons per year. Calculated based on the standard coal consumption of 300g/kWh for coal-fired power plants, it can save 1,625.58 tons of standard coal annually. During its 25-year service life, the total standard coal savings will reach 40,639.5 tons, equivalent to planting about 247,000 trees. Notably, the entire PV system operates without water consumption or sewage discharge, reducing the company’s environmental footprint from the source and realizing a virtuous cycle of “clean power generation and green brewing.”

Beyond supporting its own production, the project also contributes to regional power security. Equipped with intelligent microgrid regulation technology, it can actively participate in power grid peak shaving and frequency modulation, providing stable green power support to the regional power grid during peak electricity consumption periods and alleviating the tension of public electricity use in surrounding areas. The “surplus power fed into the grid” mode not only broadens the company’s revenue channels but also promotes the popularization of clean energy in the region, forming a win-win pattern for enterprises, society and the environment.

In an interview with reporters, relevant person in charge of Qianhe Flavor Industry elaborated on the company’s green development philosophy and layout behind the project. Lü Kelin, Secretary of the Board of Directors of Qianhe Flavor Industry Co., Ltd., said: “Energy conservation and emission reduction create benefits, and green development wins the future. In the process of condiment brewing, links such as intelligent micro-control and steam supply have high energy demand. Traditional fossil energy not only has high costs but also has a certain impact on the environment. The core purpose of our PV project layout is to find a balance between ‘green development’ and ‘quality improvement’ — reducing environmental footprint through clean power substitution, and feeding back core technological research and development through energy cost savings.”

Explaining the multiple values of the project, Lü Kelin further said: “This project adopts a ‘BIPV+BAPV’ hybrid PV solution, with PV systems installed on 45,000 square meters of factory roofs, without occupying additional land resources, truly realizing the efficient use of industrial space. This is also the core idea of our ‘roof carbon reduction’. The annual carbon dioxide emission reduction of 111,100 tons is equivalent to planting about 6.17 million trees, and there is no water consumption or sewage discharge throughout the process. This is not only our responsibility to the environment but also our practice of ‘green brewing’.”

She also emphasized that green development is closely related to consumers’ interests: “All the energy costs saved by this PV project will be invested in core areas such as strain cultivation and clean label product research and development. In 2024, our R&D investment reached more than 80 million yuan, 80% of which was used for strain cultivation, with more than 20 related patents. In the future, we will continue this virtuous cycle, allowing the company to focus more resources on improving product quality, and continuously provide consumers with cost-effective and clean-ingredient condiments, truly realizing the closed loop of ‘green production — cost optimization — R&D innovation — consumer benefit’.”
